NOW HIRING: Front of House
We’re The Boat Shed Bakery, where buttery treats meet lakeside bliss. Tucked beside the Frankton Track, we’re the grab-and-go spot fuelling locals, weekend walkers, and anyone chasing a proper coffee and pastry hit. We craft small-batch pastry using traditional methods. Think flaky croissants, melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon buns, unbeatable breakfast rolls, and choux that disappears faster than your willpower.
We’re all about modern artisan baking with a whole lot of cheek, served with a wink and a side of uninterrupted Lake Whakatipu views. Honestly, it’s the best office in the world.
We look after our people. That means proper training, clear expectations, a crew that backs each other, and perks that actually matter: a strong remuneration package, free health insurance (where eligible), and discounts across our venues (The Boat Shed Cafe, Canyon Brewing and Dishery).
If you care about the details, back your team, and bring good energy, you’ll fit right in.
Enough about us, here’s a bit about your new role.
Your day will involve:
• Running smooth, friendly service from open to close, keeping the queue moving without anyone feeling rushed.
• Making coffees and drinks to a consistent standard (and keeping the machine, grinder, and bench tidy and humming).
• Keeping the cabinet stocked, styled, and looking sharp, plus packaging takeaway orders with care and speed.
• Opening and closing shifts, cash handling, and keeping the bakery clean, organised, and food-safe throughout the day.
You will bring:
• Hospitality experience in a fast-paced environment (bonus points if you’ve worked in a café or bakery).
• Barista skills or strong coffee knowledge, with a willingness to keep learning and improving.
• Confidence using POS systems, handling cash, and staying on top of the little details during a rush.
• A calm, friendly, team-first attitude, reliability, and pride in giving people a genuinely great experience.
Let’s make it official. Send your CV and a quick intro to: manager@boatshedqueenstown.co.nz and we’ll take it from there.
